Herbert King, descended from the founder of the colony's oldest undertaking business, redeveloped this undertaking premises as one of the branches to his Richmond headquarters in 1904. Distinguished by its use of Gothic revival in an uncommon mark of respect for its architectural context, it is a stylistic anachronism. It is relatively intact (despite painted brickwork) and includes notable etched glazing.
